Solid spar building has been a specialty of Elk Spar & Boat Shop since its start in 1990.  We pride ourselves on the skill to make a log or timber into a spar as straight and round as if it had been turned on a lathe. In Maine we have access to white or red spruce, a wonderful strong, light wood for making solid spars up to 30'.  We also have an east coast supplier of high quality Douglas fir logs for bigger spars.
